I'm drawn to the tension that arises between our emotional terrain of memory and story with our capacity, our willingness, to embody or express this rich landscape.  These pieces reveal this conflict: a dancer holds an impossible backbend with enlarged feet cradling her head; an inverted, fractured figure juxtaposes her precarious flight with flowering hands and a serene face. This “divers” series portrays figures in unmanageable poses, delicately maintaining equanimity, finding comfort in the face of distress.
